She was also content with her future on Earth. Instead, she was happy with the revelation that she is light. She hoped that Max would tell her more about her history, but wasn't disappointed when he couldn't tell her anything. She is kind and nurturing toward Max, even protecting him from SharkBoy's impulsive nature. Lavagirl tends to be more patient when Max slips up and makes mistakes. They have a positive relationship and are on the same team. Max created LavaGirl during a dream that later became real, through Max's belief in his dreams. Max doesn't seem to have any hard feelings and is friends with SharkBoy. SharkBoy tends to snap at him whenever Max makes a mistake, though this is due to his poor social skills from his years living with sharks. While they're on the same team, SharkBoy's more competitive nature tends to make them argue. Upon their first meeting, Max took SharkBoy into his own home where Max kept SharkBoy, "fed and in water." SharkBoy seemingly enjoyed telling Max about his adventures across the universe. Max created SharkBoy during a dream that later became real, through Max's belief in his dreams. Max also has a level of omniscience as he knows everything about the inhabitants of the planet and their history. Examples of this include super speed, which he needed to reach SharkBoy from across the planet, and earth manipulation during his fight against Minus. By daydreaming, he can give himself any power he needs at that moment. On Planet Drool, there are no limitations to Max's powers as he is the creator of the planet. Examples of the power working for his benefit, included summoning vehicles for SharkBoy and LavaGirl, unlocking their abilities and potential, and even manipulating other beings. This occasionally backfires, as he creates what he doesn't want when having a nightmare. On Planet Drool, his power of daydreaming lets him manipulate the world around him to create what he wants. Max recognized her as LavaGirl, and she invited him to come with them to the planet, but he declined as he had school the next day. One night, a beautiful girl with flaming pink hair appeared to Max as she needed SharkBoy to return to Planet Drool with her. He kept SharkBoy in his bathroom and the boy told Max of his many travels across the planets and about a planet so cool, it makes you drool. The Summer before fourth grade, Max went fishing with his father when he found SharkBoy and brought the strange creature home. When confronted with battle and a position of leadership, he did what he could to step up to the plate. He shows a knack for adapting to unusual situations. When SharkBoy and LavaGirl come to get him at school, he's confused by things for a while before slowly settling into the unusual world of Planet Drool. But still, when he is repeatedly told that his dreams aren't real he becomes discouraged in them.
While Max tends to be meek when initially confronted, he stays confident in his beliefs and in his imagination.
He wears a black watch on his right wrist. He wears black pants and regular trainers. The bottom portion is yellow, divided from the blue with two white stripes. The top portion and the sleeves are dark blues with a yellow stripe down the shoulders. While his outfit changes for different days in the movie, the one he wears for the majority consists of a t-shirt with varying colors.
